Science & Geography Expedition

Iceland | Minimum Age - 14 years

Iceland, a place where fire and ice co-exist, is a geological wonder and a land of extremes. Whether you are a geography or a science buff or someone just looking for a unique experience, this trip will not disappoint. We start in the capital city of Reykjavik, home to one of the best museums of Northern Lights before visiting areas of geothermal activity, stopping to admire one of the largest geothermal power stations in the world. Naturally, gigantic waterfalls, lava fields, gushing geysers, bubbling mudpots and ice-covered volcanoes can hardly be left out on a trip like this. But you’ll also have the opportunity to turn this into a personal adventure by adding the optional adventures of dipping in the Blue Lagoon & hiking on a glacier. Iceland is spectacular and it’s an amazing example of the vast processes that go into the making of this planet, making it one of the most visited places by geologists. Make your school lessons come to life on this once-in-a-lifetime trip to Iceland!

What can you expect to achieve from this trip
  • Unravel the mysterious phenomenon of the Northern Lights at one of the best Museums on the subject
  • Visit a volcano museum founded by a National Geographic grantee, and witness volcanism in action while exploring geysers and hot springs
  • Learn about Iceland’s tectonic activity at a volcanology museum and the association between plate tectonics & geological processes and landforms
  • Explore and study how Icelandic people are harnessing the energy produced by the country’s geothermal landscapes and using it as an alternate power source
  • Optional trek across a glacier with an expert guide to learn about climate science and glacial recession.
  • Witness the changing landscape in a short span of time and area – a scientific and geological wonder
  • New experiences in a safe, secure environment and an opportunity to acquire skills - independence, interdependence, and personality development.

Mehvash Arslan

Some of the most interesting conversations around our office revolve around the name of this outdoor enthusiast who carries the huge responsibility of curating and operating our impeccable trips on her (extra) small shoulders. But as they say – don’t let the size fool you. A muti-talented team member Mehvash holds a Master’s degree in Maritime Archaeology from UK and wildlife and the environment are close to her heart. Her daily routine includes planning the menu for her dogs dinner and though she might be failing miserably in converting people to commute by bicycle, she makes an ace leader on our trips!
